What a Beautiful Place, THE CORLEY RANCH…in Gardnerville…this is the atmosphere that makes a great barrel race….wonderful hosts John & Joni Raper, and their great parents John & Paula Corley. The mountains and backdrop of this place was just gorgeous and the perfect weather. Camping out rodeo style is the best. We had folks from Nevada and California and we really appreciate all of them.
The arena was great, had some really nice runs and the ground just got better and better throughout the weekend. On Sunday we had Melanie Cloward and her horse Da Bus break the arena record then right behind her came Renee Ryckeebosch on her nice horse Gringo to break it again. We would like to say congratulations to both of these ladies, it was fun to watch.
Taking the 1D Average was the host herself Joni Raper on her nice gelding Poco Bar Bingo “Charlie”, taking the 2D Average title was Sue Vangalder on Savannah’s Showdown, the 3D Average went to Suzy Quillen on Diamond Montana, and the 4D Average went to the team of Paula Donnatin and Julz, they all walked away with a very nice Gist Buckle.
We would like to say a special Thank you to our sponsors who stepped up and made this race happen, a big thanks to them and to John Corley for making the effort to see this task through.
We will be making our second race of the season back at the Corley Ranch August 13-15, we hope more people can make it out this time, we are telling you it does not get any better than this place…..once you come I guarantee you will not miss another.
Keep an eye on our website for changes to our upcoming races as we head on into another great season in CA, OR, and NV. Cannot wait to see everyone down South again. Do not forget in November, the 5-7 we will be hosting once again for the 4th year in a row the WPRA CA. Permit & Co-Sanction finals in Tulare, CA. In conjunction with this and our Open Races we will be hosting for the 1st time the WPRA CA. Jr. Finals as well. Added money will be determined soon, but mark your calendars as this race is always our biggest of the year.
